Summer and Celebration is an art exhibition that explores celebration as a way of comprehending life in the time of radical societal and personal change. After two years of unexpected and often confusing events the exhibition simply asks: how was summer?

Via media of performance, installation, painting, sound art and sculpture seven artists will create snapshots into summer 2022. Speaking from subjective points of view the group offers a multifaceted and evocative exhibition where the spectrum of experience goes from playfulness to mourning.

Collectively the artworks in the exhibition reflect on the experience of coming together to celebrate. They take note of the pleasure of communal festivity and ritual, as well as private experiences of joy, contentment and sense of achievement. Summer invites us to celebration as a fundamental human activity but there is no celebration without lament.

Coffee and Buns with the Artists is held 15th October 11am-1pm. The event is an opportunity to discuss art and creative process with the artists, followed by a workshop to take part in. Free, all welcome!
