We are happy to present the inaugural event at KOPPEL X, a group show with a sound and performance event. SOFTCORE brings together six international young artists working in London and takes place in the heart of the UK capital, just under Piccadilly Lights.

The show explores contemporary experimental ways of envisioning music, sound, and performance art, with a focus on millennials and Gen Z conditions and multidisciplinary collaborative work as a response to the capitalist pace and lifestyle.

SOFTCORE uncovers the polarity between industrial and gentrified, peripheric and central areas of the city, through mixed media such as video, installation, and painting, while suggesting on how bodies, visceral feelings, infrastructure – but also neoliberalism language and entertainment – merge nowadays.

Opened by The Koppel Project, KOPPEL X will present an immersive experience in the heart of the West End, offering an escape from the busy surrounds. After years of operating across the city, The Koppel Project's tenth location will transform an empty space into a spectacle that incorporates elements of art and nature.

KOPPEL X will hosts exhibitions and creative projects on the Lower Ground Floor (X Gallery) while the mezzanine level (X Upstairs) offers permanent wall displays and temporary exhibits for visual artwork.

Our in-house programme at X Gallery & X Upstairs will showcase emerging UK based and international artists, whose practices critically challenge dominant binary norms and neoliberal narratives. By bringing visibility to underrepresented practices in the very heart of London, we aim to connect bigger audiences with artists, while also offering a safe space where diverse artistic research can actively unfold, explore, and take place.
