Introduction: The ‘Elegant Warriors of Justice’ is a feminist, climate justice project that explores the intersection between gender, ecological sustainability, the urban landscape and mental health. Created as a collaboration between Pakistani artist Zoya Alina Currimbhoy and Australian artist Elyssa Sykes-Smith, the project takes the form of a series of large-scale multimedia installations designed in response to the holding cells at The Koppel Project Station. The exhibition is accompanied by a public program of events, talks and workshops which are free to the public.
Workshop Description: In this unique experience, we will embark on a journey of self-expression and exploration through movement and collaboration. The workshop will kick off with invigorating warm-up exercises, designed to awaken your body and mind, allowing you to tap into your inner artistic energy. Elyssa and Zoya will then share their insights and techniques on how they created their installation, employing the powerful practice of embodiment. Discover the secrets behind their collaborative process and gain valuable knowledge on how to infuse your own work with a sense of shared expression. As the workshop progresses, participants will have the incredible opportunity to apply these newfound techniques and delve into the installation's narrative moments. Using their own unique perspectives, participants will respond and contribute to the artistic journey, creating a dynamic fusion of individual expression and collective storytelling. Witness firsthand how one work of art can birth new artistic forms in different mediums. Unleash your creative potential and become part of this incredible transformative experience.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore the boundless possibilities of artistic collaboration and embodiment. Join us for a performance workshop that will leave you inspired, empowered, and ready to take your artistry to new heights!
