OPEN CELLS is a studio residency that takes place in the former cells at The Koppel Project Station where artists are invited to respond to the space and interact with the historical structure through their practice. Artists can explore and experiment with various technologies to present their ideas during their stay leading to an exhibition hosted as part of our in-house programme at the Station. In addition to the cells, they will have the opportunity to use other sites and areas across the building with the purpose of filming, hosting workshops and engaging with the Hampstead community.

The first OPEN CELLS artists-in-residence are: Jo De Banzie, LUAP and Eleanor Engle.

OPEN CELLS is open to artists whose professional practice is interdisciplinary in nature and who use unconventional techniques and resources in their work. Artists are provided with various opportunities for workshop and studio space, access to the building, marketing, and curatorial support as well as all necessary facilities to produce the final exhibition.
