Maybe (not) Today
Upstairs: A solo exhibition by Artists Anonymous
Downstairs: Group show exhibition showcasing LXPHR, Chromatic Euphoria, Renata Pinheiro & Magical Madman
Maybe (not) today is the first self-curated exhibition in London since over a decade by renown artists, Artists Anonymous, working in collaboration with AA-galleries, The Koppel Project and The Institute of Perception & Sensation.
Focusing on collaboration and merging the gap between fine art, the underground art movement as well as the printing industry, Artists Anonymous’s solo exhibition will be accompanied with a basement installation and display of works by international artists in collaboration with Lucipher // LXPHR (Berlin / Manchester), Chromatic Euphoria (Liverpool), Renata Pinheiro (Porto) and Magical Mad Man (London).
Artists Anonymous is recognised across Europe and America for their original technique in combining fine art oil painting with colour inversion as found in the development process of analogue photography. They have impressed their audience with their sophisticated painting technique, often presented in expanding site-specific installations internationally for more than 20 years.
Artists Anonymous have been in 153 solo and group exhibitions in over 40 cities, with works in over 27 public and private collections across Asia, Europe and America.
Showcasing original techniques:
“Painting & Afterimage”
The 'afterimage' of an oil painting is an inverted photograph of the painting. Using the colour inversion to create a separate work, which is exposed and developed on photographic paper. This technique was developed over years of experimentation and is unique to Artists Anonymous, recognised worldwide as distinct to their practice.
The show will not only be the first London exhibition by Artists Anonymous after a decade but also the first of the New Warriors series to take place in England. The 2006-2009 monolithic saga, The Apocalyptic Warriors, was a contemporary take on the biblical story of the Four Horsemen, whispering of darkness, sin and negativities of the world. Now those are all out of Pandora’s Box, the New Warriors bring Hope, Fate and Freedom, a triptych of post-apocalyptic prowess to London.
Exhibiting not only the exquisite nature of fine art but its ability to be presented with innovative and unique print technology, working closely with Roland DGA Corporation and DG DIMENSE in partnership to produce the afterimages by Artists Anonymous following a new and innovative printing medium. DIMENSE™ is a new digital printing technique which can be used to create graphics with a 3D relief. Using an innovative eco-friendly printing process with water-based inks and PVC-free media. The three-dimensional effect is easy to create and enables the creation of prints with texture up to 1,5 mm thick.
This exhibition is made possible through the cooperation and support of Roland DGA Corporation, DIMENSE, Print Media Centr and D-C-Fix.
