All works are for sale.
Joanna Cohn is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice involves painting, print and installation. Her practice is concerned with the sensory potential and metamorphosis of technically mediated images which takes the form of traditional print process and extended 2 and 3D digital interventions. Her work examines the human voice, justice, resistance and the natural world. She sees image-making as a subversive form of mapping the world and navigating the unknown.
As a former professional jazz singer, Joanna approaches her visual practice as a musician and performer and she compares a print or a repeated image to a song, to be reinterpreted and translated through its repetition, transcending its original form.
Her work was included in this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Wells Art Contemporary, Wells Cathedral, where she was awarded the GBS Fine Art Award. She is shortlisted for this year’s V&A Illustration Awards and the Hyundai Excellence in Sustainability and Creativity Award. This year her works have been shown the Barbican Library, Southwark Park Galleries, Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins, Upper Gulbenkian Gallery, RCA Kensington,The Handbag Factory, May, London, UK. Recent Awards include the GBS Fine Art Award , Intaglio Printmakers Prize, Clifford Chance Postgraduate Printmaking in London, Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary, Rosemary Simmons Stone Lithography Award, Landmark Student Prize, Nasdaq Art Prize.
