Introduction: The ‘Elegant Warriors of Justice’ is a feminist, climate justice project that explores the intersection between gender, ecological sustainability, the urban landscape and mental health. Created as a collaboration between Pakistani artist Zoya Alina Currimbhoy and Australian artist Elyssa Sykes-Smith, the project takes the form of a series of large-scale multimedia installations designed in response to the holding cells at The Koppel Project Station. The exhibition is accompanied by a public program of events, talks and workshops which are free to the public.
Workshop Description: Embark on a creative journey with us through an immersive drawing workshop! We will delve into the captivating world of illusions, perspectives, and collaborative creations. To kickstart this transformative experience, Elyssa and Zoya will take you on a discussion about the art of creating illusions using two-dimensional methods to create collaborative optical experiences. From repeat patterns, perspective drawings, concertina style imagery create some unforgettable artworks with us.
What sets this workshop apart is that it is an invaluable opportunity to hear from our artist facilitators themselves. They will share their personal experiences of incorporating these techniques into their collaborative installation. Gain insights into their creative process, learn from their expertise, and be inspired by their journey of merging illusions, perspectives, and collaborative artistry.
The pinnacle of the workshop is the creation of a large-scale collaborative drawing/collage of a vibrant cityscape. Utilise the techniques we discussed, infusing your collective artwork with the magic of illusions, perspectives, and the concertina style. Experience the power of collaboration as individual visions merge into a breathtaking masterpiece.
This workshop is open to artists of all levels, from beginners to experienced creators. It's a chance to unlock your artistic potential, expand your visual storytelling abilities, and leave with a sense of accomplishment and inspiration.
