Join us to mark the closing of Emma Turpin’s residency at KOPPEL Broadway. Over the past few months, Emma has been developing a large-scale textile work using discarded satin and the methodical, time-intensive technique of shirring. Her installation invites us to slow down and sit with the materials we often overlook- synthetic, excessive, and seductive, asking what lies behind the systems that produce them.

The event will also include a presentation of additional works and a conversation with the artist, followed by a Q&A.

Emma Turpin’s current practice investigates the material and environmental implications of polyester: a synthetic, oil-derived textile that dominates the fashion industry despite its deeply unsustainable origins.
