SUSTAINABLE JEWELLERY IN CONFLICT AREAS
Talk and Discussion
Monday 18th December 2017 from 6:30 – 9pm
The Koppel Project Baker Street
On December 18th, ISHKAR and Turquoise Mountain will be hosting a discussion about sustainable jewellery in conflict areas with award-winning designers Pippa Small and Arabel Lebrusan.
Modern trends of ethical jewellery are a positive shift from the jewellery industry’s blood-stained past, but ‘sustainable’ and ‘ethically made’ are terms that are often used loosely. Many of us don’t understand exactly what they mean. We hope that by the end of the talk you will have a better idea about where your jewellery comes from and the impact it has, or could have, on the local community.
Pippa Small has been described by the Sunday Times as “the glamorous bohemian’s rock purveyor of choice”.
Shoshana Stewart is the CEO of Turquoise Mountain, where she has worked since 2006.
Arabel Lebrusan has spent the last 5 years as the designer and conductor of her very own jewellery brand.
