Spring Edition

17-19 May 2018

The Koppel Project Hive

The Hive Open Studios is an invitation to discover the working environment of a diverse selection of emerging and established London-based artists. Twice a year, The Hive’s artists display their works in progress and discuss them with curators, collectors, and the public.

The main aim of the open studios is to showcase the vibrancy of The Hive community artists. Working in large communal spaces, this event allows artists to illustrate their individual practices and vision and shows how they fit into the collective force of the community. Throughout the course of the weekend, visitors can see artists at work, take part in demonstrations and workshops, talks.

More details to be announced soon!

The Koppel Project Hive supports 100 artists’ studios in the heart of the City of London. Artists share large communal studios comprised of 15m2 units, and also have use of attached project spaces and shared communal areas. The cost of each studio unit includes utilities, security, and furniture. The studios have very large windows providing good natural light, but limited ventilation. For this reason, any artistic practices using toxic products are strictly forbidden.

Access to the building is from 8am–8pm Monday-Friday, 10am–6pm Saturday, and 10am – 4pm Sunday. There is a full-time security guard at the front desk.

Please contact ellen@thekoppelproject.com for enquiries and further information.

We are currently looking for volunteers to support us with invigilating our studios and gallery in Holborn during Open Studios’ weekend.

Main responsabilities:

  • Sit in artists’ studios to give them a break during the event. Volunteers might also help with artists’ personal proposals for that weekend
  • Greet visitors around the building, giving them directions and info
  • Invingilate communal areas and monitor main accesses to the studios and the exhibition space
  • Welcoming gallery visitors and introduce them to the show, and the works on display.

So if you have an interest in the arts, and a positive alert and attitude when dealing with the public and general visitors, we would love to hear from you!

To know more about, or join our team, please write to info@thekoppelproject.com with an expression of interest and your CV.

Our gallery in Holborn will open its doors over all Open Studios’ weekend. Come and take the chance to discover more on the ongoing exhibition NATUR BLICK, a group exhibition curated by Augustine Carr and Paula Zambrano, which brings together the work of ten contemporary artists who investigate the concept of ‘scanning’. The works included vary from photography to installation, video to performance, and sculpture as well as accompanying texts by Chantal Faust and Daniel C. Blight.
